CRIME: Ramapo police dangerous drug arrest and daily activity

Rockland’s newest Police Chief Weidel was appointed by the Town Board after the Town had no police chief for over four months.

At about 9pm last night, RPD’s Anti-Crime Unit conducted an investigation at the scene of a traffic stop on Route 45 in Hillcrest. During this investigation, they determined that both the driver and passenger, 23 and 25 year old males from Nanuet, NY, were illegally in possession of Roxicodone, a highly addictive opioid narcotic. Both were arrested for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance and transported to the station for processing. While at the stationhouse, it was discovered that one of the defendants had secreted an undetermined amount and type of drug in a body cavity. He was transported to the hospital where he is being treated for that medical concern. Both subjects must return to Ramapo Court on a future date to answer the charges.

On 4/6/16, Ramapo Police handled 137 calls, including:
11 alarm activations,
9 medical emergencies,
1 fire, and
5 arrests including UPM, Suspended Operation, and three for Criminal Possession of Controlled Substances.

We responded to 8 MVA’s at the following locations: Ronald Drive-Monsey, Second Street-Monsey, Acer Court-Monsey, Route 45-Hillcrest, Zuba Lane-Hillcrest, Route 59-Airmont, Route 306-Wesley Hills, and Sutin Place-Chestnut Ridge. One accident involved an injury, and one was a hit & run.
