Clarkstown Police arrest fatal hit and run driver after two month investigation

(New City) Clarkstown Detective Bureau arrested a Jodi Sarf, 48, Congers today, Jan 29, for the hit and run death of Manuel Aguaiza, 40, New City that occurred on December 19.

On Tuesday December 19,  at approximately 10:30 PM, a Mr. Aguaiza was crossing Rt. 304 at Third St. when he was struck by a dark colored SUV vehicle. The dark colored SUV fled the scene heading southbound on Rt. 304.The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The victim was transported to Nyack ER for medical attention.  The victim suffered extensive injuries and survived but Mr. Aguaiza succumbed to the injuries he suffered as a result of the accident. 

The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.  The victim died.

The Clarkstown Detective Bureau located the dark colored vehicle involved in this incident yesterday following the criminal hit and run. The 2015 Mercedes Benz SUV was taken into our custody for processing. The investigation continues and the detectives have identified a person of interest in this case.

After a lengthy criminal investigation, the detective assigned to the case arrested Sarf. Sarf and her attorney surrendered to the police this morning, Jan 29. She was processed and charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injury resulting in death, a felony. Jodi Sarf was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and was released on her own recognizance. She will return to court on March 26 at 9:30 AM.
